Work to enhance programs to assist those in need and other segments of our community deserving public assistance.

HUM-01Advocate for Homeless Population1. Host Landlord Summit for Rapid Re-Housing.checkmark
2. Support coordinated entry sytem for homeless whcih created a one phone number call system monitored by trained staff to help residents in a housing crisis (March 5, 2018).checkmark
3. Support remodeling of the Bill-Mehr Drop-In Center.checkmark
4. Expanded the operating hours of the Overnight Shelter (formerly known as the hypothermia center) to be year round. This increased the number of beds by 40.checkmark
5. Office is a member of the Continuum of Care (CoC) (Greater Prince William Area's Coalition for homelessness). checkmark
HUM-02Advocate for Veterans1. Work with County Court and State Delegates to initiate Veterans’ Docket in the Court System.
2. Supported work of Virginia Employment Commission to help veterans.   
3. Facilitated a World War I 100th Year Commemoration with local rotary group. checkmark
HUM-03Supported Community Services Board's (CSB) Current Needs and Future Plans1. Supported hiring additional staff for the CSB to achieve same day access for mental health services.checkmark
2. Supported CSB in purchasing Narcan for First Responders to administer in overdose cases.

HUM-05Advocate for Affordable Housing1. Working with Metropolitan Council of Governments' data and recommendations to formulate future plans.
HUM-06Improved Coordination for Human Services among Government, Non-Profits, Faith Organizations, and Engaged Citizens1. Human Services Listening Tour in the Occoquan District so citizens could voice their opinions on needs and better coordination. checkmark
2. New organization is being created to facilitate this goal (staff member on planning committee). This organization will use results from the Listening Tour to formulate operating procedures.
3. Supported "No-Wrong Door" study to evaluate coordination among government offices. The Study is complete: checkmark
